Founder & CEO of Dr. Yel’Ora Lifestyle & Obesity Coach for Night Workers

Dr. Yel’Ora (also known as Dr. Chinyelu E. Oraedu) is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

She earned her degree from the University of Nigeria, the first indigenous institution of higher education established in Nigeria after the country’s independence in 1960. She completed her residency in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York in 2009.  In her more than 20 years as a medical doctor, Dr. Yel’Ora has practiced in Nigeria, Oman, and the United States.

Dr. Yel’Ora is a practicing Academic Hospitalist-Nocturnist (a physician who takes care of adults 18 years and older in the hospital setting) with 14 years experience at Stamford Hospital, a teaching affiliate of Columbia University Irving Medical Center in New York City.  

Dr. Oraedu is an Adjunct Professor at Frank H. Netter MD, School of Medicine in Quinnipiac University, North Haven, CT, where she mentors a group of Medical students.

She discovered the transformative effect of lifestyle coaching through coach Liz during the COVID Pandemic in 2020.  Her coach helped her on her weight loss journey by providing the personal accountability she needed.  Currently,  Dr. Yel’Ora engages on a deeper level on a weekly basis with her business and Lifestyle coaches.

She is also a member of professional societies, American Medical Association (AMA), American College of Physicians (ACP).

She gives back to her community by volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County in addition to Youth Organizations her children belong to notably Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestra (GCTYO) and Fairfield County Children’s Choir (FCCC).

Working the night shift as a solo nocturnist requires a different set of skills.  You need to be confident and competent in your skill set since you may not have in house support during the wee hours of the night in case of an emergency”

Family and Fun Facts

Dr. Yel’Ora is a person who values her family and friends and believes that selfless service towards others is the key to true happiness. She is married and they have three teenage children.

Dr. Yel’Ora has a fearless, intuitive, and highly enterprising alter ego who helps her overcome feelings of despair or fear whenever she is faced with new ideas. She draws her strength from the inner voice who always encourages her “to never give up”. Despite being afraid of heights, Dr. Yel’Ora has worked on conquering her fears and even tried bungee jumping in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Skydiving is next on her bucket list and she is determined to face this challenge as well.

Dr. Yel’Ora follows the mantra that tackling difficult tasks in life leads to success. She has lived on three different continents and considers herself a global citizen. A Trifecta.  Born in Birmingham, United Kingdom, raised in Nigeria, Living & Thriving while working nights in the United States. 

She is also known as Dr. Chi to her peers and is the best-selling author of The Warrior Women Project, an anthology about immigrant women. The book highlights the inspiring stories of 22 determined immigrant women who made sacrifices in pursuit of a better life away from home. It serves as a helpful guide for anyone considering emigration from any part of the world.

Recently, she collaborated a second time and coauthored a book “Thriving After Burnout” with 49 female physicians which is a bestseller on Amazon.

In her free time, Dr. Yel’Ora enjoys writing short plays, fictional stories, traveling, spending quality time with her loved ones, and reading books about personal finance and investing.
